Women In Tech Need To Stand Their Ground In 2010, Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer of Facebook, gave an electrifying TED Talk in which she described how women unknowingly hold themselves back in their careers. Her talk, which was later captured in her book, “Lean In,” advised women to push ahead in their career by raising their hand for more opportunities. Adrienne Weissman believes that women in tech shouldn’t just ‘lean in’ to advance their careers. Rather, women need to stand their ground in order to become a disruptive force in the tech space. Breakout Session: Lean In? Women In Tech Need To Stand Their Ground In 2010, Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer of Facebook, gave an electrifying TED Talk in which she described how women unknowingly hold themselves back in their careers. Her talk, which was later captured in her book, “Lean In,” advised women to push ahead in their career by raising their hand for more opportunities. Adrienne Weissman believes that women in tech shouldn’t just ‘lean in’ to advance their careers. Rather, women need to stand their ground in order to become a disruptive force in the tech space. Women shouldn’t have to continuously ask for more opportunities and responsibilities just to prove they’re equal to their male coworkers. Instead, women should have the same quality of life as their male counterparts, i.e. equal pay, opportunities and respect. Weissman will discuss the following:
