Keynote: Voice of the Enterprise--Understanding Customer IoT Adoption

This session will help attendees gain an understanding of the IoT customer, particularly those at enterprise organizations. A recent 451 Research study of enterprise buyers reveals that the majority of enterprises are now capturing data for IoT with security and ROI their main concerns. Research Director Laura Didio of 451 Research, who has spearheaded the groundbreaking study, will share the results of customer perceptions, challenges and intentions around IoT. Organizations are forging ahead with IoT initiatives and opening their wallets to support IoT deployments. Enterprise IT respondents with IoT initiatives underway expect their mean IoT-related spending to grow by a robust 33 percent over the next 12 months. DiDio said IoT deployments and usage will be particularly strong in enterprise initiatives around data and transactional intensive workload categories, such as data analytics and security. Attendees will gain insight into IoT solutions around data collection and analysis of financial, healthcare or industrial functions; the uptime/reliability of mission-critical line of business servers and applications; as well as monitoring the efficiency and costs related to a specific business operation or department such as a hospital emergency room.

Keynote: Things Evolved - IoT That Matters

‘Internet of Things’ conjures up images of devices in the billions measuring everything from calories consumed from a ‘smart’ plate to home automation for an increasingly automated lifestyle – First World Problems for sure.  At Arrow, we are an integral partner in the development of those innovations, but there is a deeper, even more substantive purpose that drives us.

Things Evolved isn’t just a marketing phrase.  It is the recognition that ‘things’ properly designed and built for a purpose will find their place as innovations that change lives, save lives and deliver capabilities to the human race that didn’t exist before.  That’s what Things Evolved means to us – finding purpose in technology to accomplish something that really matters.

Exploring an Azure IoT Use Case in Food Manufacturing

New Signature has proven that they are a leading voice in IoT, and have developed strong relationships and transformative solutions for companies across the United States. For one central-Pennsylvania food company, New Signature delivered an Azure Machine Learning solution that helped optimize their production process by reducing product weight variability. We'll show how  Microsoft Azure’s IoT Suite was used to connect, collect, capture and mine data from existing assets. And how this led to significant cost savings opportunities, enabling predictive responses to improve production.

Exploring an Azure IoT Use Case in Civil Service

10th Magnitude has leveraged Azure IoT to connect equipment leveraged in the civil service space to improve the value delivered to constituents, one such example being the “smart” street sweeper. Cities like Los Angeles struggle with decisions regarding the proper use of their most precious commodities: water, fuel and manpower. To help ease the decision making process, we worked with the street sweeper manufacturer to monitor GPS coordinates, water usage, turbidity, speed and other equipment settings. This data created the first visual of how dirty streets actually are from day to day. It also overlaid the water, time and effort applied to remove waste and improve health conditions. By combining these new points of data, the manufacturer was able to offer a service that reduces waste in each of the commodities while improving living conditions.

In this session, we will talk through the services in Azure that made this use case possible. We will also review the process 10th Magnitude took to deliver a prototype in less than three weeks with functional hardware in six weeks. By the end of this session, you will have a better grasp of the technology and processes necessary to help your customers leverage Azure for IoT.

Inside the New World of IoT - Finding New Players & Future Partners

There is no doubt that IoT represents a massive opportunity for solution providers but capitalizing on the trend will require a new set of partners that come from outside the traditional IT industry. IT-focused solution providers need partners who can help them turn pools of data created by IoT into value for customers. There are hundreds of companies in the business of data collection, industrial automation, monitoring and control and automation transmission that solution providers need to know if they are going to build successful IoT practices. Having the right partners can open doors in markets such as energy, healthcare, industrial products, transportation, public safety and building maintenance. But everyone needs to speak the same language in order to move forward. Solution providers must get out in front of this trend and connect with partners who have OT services that can be incorporated into an overall IT or business solution for customers. During this session, attendees will receive an overview of some of these suppliers to gain an understanding of their offerings, strategies, growth plans and perceptions of today's IT channel.
